Reiki

The word reiki comes from the Japanese words rei and ki, which mean universal and vital energy. Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that promotes relaxation and stress reduction. During a Reiki session, practitioners place their hands above the client (in the body’s aura) or gently on the body, facilitating the flow of life force energy to support the body's natural healing processes and promote overall well-being.

What is life force energy?

Life force energy, known by various names like Qi, Prana, or Ki in different traditions, is a vital energy believed to flow through all living beings. This subtle energy is considered the foundation of health and well-being, influencing physical, mental, and emotional states. When this energy flows freely and is balanced, we experience optimal health. Practices like Reiki aim to support this natural flow, promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and enhancing the body's innate healing capabilities. While not yet fully understood by Western science, many experience tangible benefits from working with this vital energy.

Is Reiki a religious practice?

Reiki itself is not a religion. It doesn't have a specific dogma, set of beliefs, or require adherence to a particular faith. However, it is often described as a spiritual practice. People from various religious backgrounds, or those who are not religious at all, can practice and receive Reiki. It is often seen as complementary to other beliefs and practices.

What can I expect in a Reiki session?

First, we’ll start with a brief conversation to understand your reasons for seeking Reiki and any specific areas of concern. You’ll have a few moments to lie comfortably on the Reiki table. The space will have calming music and soft lighting to promote relaxation. I’ll then move through a series of hand placements to facilitate the flow of energy throughout your body. Your practice may be accompanied by sound healing, aromatherapy using organic essential oils, or the use of crystals to engage with the energy of your body’s chakras.
